A basic Razorpay integration can take an afternoon: drop in the checkout script, take a test payment and it seems to work. The problems appear later. A customer pays, closes the tab before the redirect and the order shows as unpaid. Someone refreshes the success page and the order is placed twice. A refund is made in the dashboard but the website still shows the order as paid.
These problems are not rare; they are the normal edge cases of online payments, and they are what a proper integration is built to handle. The key is that the order is confirmed on the server using Razorpay's signed response and webhook, not on whatever the browser says happened.
That is how we integrate Razorpay, and it is why we show live stores below rather than only describing what we do.
Razorpay Checkout on your site, with the payment methods your Razorpay account has enabled, such as UPI, cards, netbanking and wallets.
Orders created on your server with the amount fixed there, so prices cannot be changed in the browser.
Every payment is verified on the server using Razorpay's signature before the order is marked paid.
Payment-captured and failed events update orders even if the customer closes the page mid-payment.
Refund handling and order status that matches the Razorpay dashboard, so your accounts agree with your orders.
Plugin-based setup for WordPress stores, and direct API integration for custom PHP, Laravel or app backends.
Prepaid with online payment and cash on delivery options in the same checkout, with the rules you want.
Full test payments, failure cases and a go-live checklist before real customers pay.
The payment succeeds but the customer's browser closes before returning to your site. The customer clicks pay twice. The network drops after payment. The amount shown in the browser is changed by someone who knows how. An order is refunded from the dashboard. Each of these is a real situation, and each needs a deliberate answer in the code.
We build the order flow so that your server is the source of truth: it creates the order, receives Razorpay's confirmation and decides whether the order is paid. The browser only displays the result.
1. Your server creates an order through Razorpay's Orders API, with the amount (in paise) and a receipt reference fixed on the server. Razorpay returns an order ID.
2. Your page opens Razorpay Checkout with that order ID and your public key ID. The customer chooses UPI, card, netbanking or a wallet and pays on Razorpay's form.
3. On success, Razorpay returns a payment ID, the order ID and a signature to the browser. Your server recomputes the signature using your key secret and compares it. Only if it matches is the order marked paid.
4. Separately, Razorpay sends webhook events such as payment captured, payment failed or order paid to an endpoint on your server. Your server verifies the webhook signature and updates the order, even if the customer never returned to your site.
5. For refunds, your server calls the refunds API, and your order status is updated from the result or the refund webhook, so the website and the Razorpay dashboard agree.
Razorpay offers several ways to take payments. Standard Checkout on your own site gives a smooth, branded flow and is the usual choice for stores and apps. Plugins for platforms such as WooCommerce are quicker to set up when you do not need custom logic. Payment links and payment pages let you collect money without a full website, which suits invoices and small campaigns.
We recommend the lightest method that fits. If a plugin does the job, we set it up and test it rather than writing custom code. If you need COD rules, partial payments, custom order states or an app backend, we use the API directly. Product names and features change over time, so we confirm the current options in Razorpay's documentation during scoping.
Order stays unpaid after the customer paid: usually the order is confirmed only from the browser redirect and no webhook is set up. Duplicate orders: the success page creates the order again on refresh. Amount mismatch: prices are taken from the browser instead of the server, or paise and rupees are mixed up. Webhook not firing: wrong URL, blocked by a firewall or security plugin, or the signature check uses the wrong secret.
Other issues we see: test keys left on a live site, live keys exposed in front-end code, payments authorised but not captured because of the account's capture setting, and refunds made in the dashboard that the website never learns about. Each has a clear fix once the flow is traced end to end.
For WordPress and WooCommerce stores, a well-configured plugin is often the right approach, and we set it up, test it and add the checks around it. For custom PHP, Laravel and web or mobile apps, we integrate through Razorpay's API for full control over the flow.
Which route is right depends on your platform, your need for custom rules and who maintains the site afterwards. We explain the trade-offs before deciding.
Razorpay's fees, settlement timelines and account approval are set by Razorpay and depend on your business and documents. We do not set or guarantee them, and we recommend that you check Razorpay's current pricing and terms on its own site. We can help you prepare the website pages that reviewers commonly look for, such as policies, contact details and product information.
With Razorpay Checkout, card details are entered on Razorpay's secure form rather than your server. We keep your API secret out of the browser, verify signatures on the server, protect webhook endpoints and avoid storing sensitive payment data. We do not claim any certification on behalf of your business, and we recommend you review Razorpay's documentation for your compliance needs.
Before going live, we run payments in Razorpay's test mode, covering success, failure, cancelled and delayed cases, check that webhooks arrive and update orders and confirm that refunds reflect correctly. We then switch to live keys with a checklist and make a first real low-value payment with you.
These are working online stores we have built. Open them on your phone to see how the storefront and checkout feel. We list what is visible on each site, and we are happy to explain on a call how payments are handled behind the scenes.

It is connecting your website or app checkout to Razorpay so customers can pay online by UPI, cards, netbanking or wallets, and your system records the result correctly.
Yes. We set up and test plugin-based integrations for WooCommerce, and build direct API integrations for custom PHP, Laravel and app backends.
A properly built integration uses Razorpay webhooks, so the payment is still recorded and the order is updated on your server even if the browser never returns.
Yes. We review the current flow, find where orders are lost, duplicated or mismatched and fix it with verification and webhooks.
Yes. We can build checkout with prepaid and cash on delivery options, with rules you choose.
No. Fees, settlement and approval are set by Razorpay. We can help prepare site pages reviewers look for, and we recommend checking Razorpay's current terms.
A simple integration can be done in a few days, while a full order flow with webhooks, refunds and testing takes longer. We give a timeline in the written scope.
Razorpay returns a signature with each successful payment. Your server recomputes it using your key secret and compares the two, and only then marks the order paid. Webhooks are verified the same way.
A webhook is a message Razorpay sends to your server when a payment event happens, such as captured or failed. You need one, because it records payments even when the customer closes the browser before returning to your site.
Razorpay's API takes amounts in the smallest currency unit, which is paise for INR. A proper integration converts and fixes the amount on the server so a mix-up or browser change cannot alter it.
Yes. The server creates orders and verifies payments through the API, while the front end or app opens Razorpay's checkout. We build the backend and connect it to your front end.
Yes. We connect refunds to your order system so that a refund updates the order status, stock and customer message, and the website agrees with the Razorpay dashboard.
Access to a staging copy or the codebase, your Razorpay test keys, and a short description of the checkout flow you want, including COD rules and refund policy. Live keys are only needed at go-live.
Yes. We work remotely from Mumbai with clients across India, through calls, a staging copy and written approvals.
